FAQS

Why does your cashew include oil on the ingredients list?

All of our nuts are roasted oil-free and there is no oil used in the cooking process. However, our cashews require a very small amount of oil to prevent crumbling and sticking. This oil is applied after the cooking process. Since cashews are in most of our mixed nuts, canola oil will appear on those ingredient lists as well.

Are your dark chocolate almonds vegan?

Yes, they are!

Aren’t all nuts gluten-free?

Naturally yes, all nuts are gluten-free. However, through processing typically wheat starch or gluten-based starch is added to thicken the solution to stick better to the nuts (such as salt). We dry roast with our special techniques to keep our nuts true to form.

Why are shipping costs so high?

While we do our best to keep pricing reasonable and competitive, the shipping process is complex and requires many separate costs that add up and produce higher prices. Factors like labour, fuel surcharges, parcel weight, package dimensions, value, and destination all factor into a

shipping rate determined by couriers – which is out of our control.

How do I store my nuts?

Whole, raw nuts and seeds with stay fresh the longest. That’s because when chopped, roasted, or ground, nuts release their oils. These oils are then exposed to more oxygen, which makes nuts go rancid more quickly.

Contrary to popular belief, nuts should be stored in cool temperatures as opposed to a room temperature pantry. Why? Because nuts contain a high amount of unsaturated fat, a delicate type of oil, which makes them highly prone to going rancid.

If you do have to store at room temperature, make sure to choose a dark space without direct heat. All of our products are labelled with an expiry date.

What is an Indian Meal Moth?

They’re also known as the pantry bug and completely harmless if ingested. The Indian meal moths derive from the farm itself and we have many protocols to protect our customers from these eggs from hatching by keeping the products in a cool temperature controlled warehouse. The eggs of an Indian meal moth are microscopic size(like the bed bug, cannot be seen by the naked eye).
